Awards Criteria 2021

Here are the shortlists for the judged awards (as opposed to those decided by adviser voting).

The process is quite simple. In advance of the judging days, each judge marks each section of the submissions. At the start of each category session, the chair, Keith Richards, CEO of the PFS, asks each judge to nominate their 1-2-3. If, there is any significant digression from the scores, he will ask for further thought and discussion.

  • The platform of the year – 2021

    This award will go to the intermediary platform that the judges deem to have made the greatest advance or been the most innovative in 2021.

    Judging process: Submission followed by interview of the six finalists by our judges in the City of London.

  • Best platform provider (AUM over £40 bn)

    The award for the best larger platform, with AUM over £40 bn. Voted for by advisers.

  • Best platform provider (AUM up to £40 bn)

    The award for the best smaller platform, with AUM over £40 bn. Voted for by advisers

  • The intelliflo award for best platform service.

    Based on adviser votes on 4 categories on service and administration

  • Leading adviser business

    The best larger adviser firm with 10 or more advisers

    Judging process: The judging process will be in two stages. Stage one is in the form of a submission to the judges. The three entrants receiving highest scores will go through to an interview with the judges.

    The best smaller adviser firm with up to 10 advisers.

  • Leading adviser for ESG investment

    A firm with all the best adviser qualities together with a leading ESG proposition

    Judging process: The award will be judged by submissions to the judging panel.

  • Best use of platform technology

    The most successful recent technology partnership between a platform and a technology provider

  • Leading digital platform

    The most exciting development in the application of financial technology in both direct to consumer and hybrid platforms.

  • Leading retirement proposition

    The complete platform retirement solution

  • Leading independent planning tool provider

    The most valuable planning tool that supports the adviser proposition

  • Leading investment research, ratings and data provider

    The advisers’ choice of fund ratings and research provider

  • Leading Innovation award

    This award quite simply celebrates innovation, whether a platform, planning tool or application that makes life better for advisers and/or customers

  • Best wealth management platform award

    For vertically integrated platforms providing integrated asset management and/or distribution capability.

  • Leading platform for discretionary management

    This award is for the best platform used by advisers wishing to run discretionary portfolios, either models or bespoke.

  • Leading innovation in workplace solutions

    The workplace proposition that engages best with both employers and employees.

  • Best institutional platform

    For the best wholesale platform supplying a fund service to wealth managers, financial institutions and/or pension fund trustees.

  • Best strategic platform partner

    For the provider of the essential services that enable the platform to deliver its proposition

  • Leading platform journalist

    Editors and publishers will be asked to submit an article or series of articles written by their best platform journalist.

  • Leading platform for model portfolio services

    The best platform for advisers running model portfolio services as judged by discretionary managers. This award is for the platform that best supports advisers using model portfolio services (MPS) from discretionary fund managers.
